How To Make Chocolate Hummus + Recipe

Updated: Apr 19, 2021

Chocolate hummus you say? You seriously don't know what you are missing until you try it. I personally didn't think that hummus and chocolate should be used in the same sentence until I actually tried it. It's so yummy! Of course once I fell in love with it, I had a hard time finding it. That is what enticed me to make my own. I made a video on it too, my first cooking video that I just uploaded to YouTube! Warning: it is also my first attempt at editing a video, so please bare with me during this learning process. Practice makes perfect! Here is the recipe that I borrowed from another and then made changes to it so it fit my taste and my healthy requirements.

Chocolate Hummus (A Healthier Sweet Treat)

Yields 2.5 cups

Ingredients

1 Can Chickpeas (Black Beans or White Beans can be substituted)

1/2 Cup Regular or Dutch Cocoa Powder

1/2 Cup Sweetener or equivalent

(I use 1/4 Cup Palm Sugar, 1 1/2 Tbsp Truvia, 1 Tbsp Agave syrup)

1/3 Cup Nut or Seed Butter of your choice (I prefer organic/natural)

1/4 Tsp Sea Salt

2 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract (not imitation)

1/4 Cup Semi Sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips

1/4 - 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk (Other milks can be substituted)

Instructions

Drains and rinse beans well.

Combine all ingredients except the coconut milk in food processor and process until smooth.

Add small amounts of milk until you achieve desired

consistency for dipping.

A food processor will yield a creamier texture, but a blender will work.

Leftovers can be covered and refrigerated for approximately a week.

Great for dipping Strawberries, crackers or anything you like with chocolate.

Enjoy!
